Airbnb rolls out Trips product in Jamaica

Airbnb has launched its Trips platform in Jamaica, adding the Caribbean destination to the list of international locations offering bookable local experiences.

The announcement was made at the UNWTO Conference on Jobs & Inclusive Growth: Partnerships for Sustainable Tourism, currently taking place in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

With the move, Airbnb is seeking to bring people and places together in a single travel platform, with personalised experiences taking their place alongside accommodation options on site.

Airbnb Trips are specifically designed to allow people to immerse themselves in local communities and participate in activities led by local experts.

At the same time, hosts are able earn additional cash while offering the experience

Jamaican hosts have collectively made US$6 million to date, Airbnb said.

Founded in August of 2008 and based in San Francisco, California, Airbnb is a trusted community marketplace for people to list, discover, and book unique accommodations around the world — online or from a mobile phone or tablet.

Whether an apartment for a night, a castle for a week, or a villa for a month, Airbnb connects people to unique travel experiences, at any price point, in more than 65,000 cities and 191 countries.
