Key Dates
Public Transit Services

Promote taking public transit – the best way to get around during the Games.

Pedestrian Zones & Bike Routes

Encourage active travel during the Games such as walking and cycling:

Stock Up

It is strongly recommended that businesses order extra supplies well in advance of the Games to avoid potential delays or impacts due to traffic and road changes.

Plan in Advance & Anticipate Delays

Expect delays for your staff and customers. Allow for extra time in schedules, and make sure to announce any impacts, such as Road and Parking restrictions that will impact getting to your business.

Online tools and real-time alerts help plan travel in advance:

Avoid Peak Travel Times

Whether you or your staff are travelling to your business, if you have deliveries to make, or meetings with others, plan to travel to downtown Vancouver before 7 am and leave by 2 pm or after 7 pm

For Sea to Sky travel, be on the highway before 6am or after 6 pm if you do not have travel permits and to avoid Games related traffic

Adjust Work Hours

Where possible, work with your staff to adjust hours for your business.

  • Support employees taking holidays during the Games.
  • Implementing flex-days with staff working longer hours some days to allow for time off on others
  • Adjust work hours to support staff commuting before or after peak times.
Teleworking

Sometimes the best commute, is no commute. Support your staff working from home during the Games.

Join in the Celebrations

Use Entertainment Events happening around town to build team spirit and staff morale – organize team outings to participate in celebrations rather than getting stuck in commutes during peak times.
