Saga to launch four-night European taster cruise this autumn

Anyone thinking about booking their first cruise can enjoy a four-night taster cruise on Saga Sapphire which features a pub crawl in Amsterdam and the opportunity to sample beer and chocolate in Bruges.

Guests on the late autumn Flavours of Amsterdam sailing can let their spirits soar as the city looks beautiful at this time of the year – and the streets are not so crowded.

The evening pub crawl around Amsterdam, which is an optional tour, includes sampling beer brewed in the city and tasting jenever, a Dutch spirit similar to gin.

The leisurely walk takes guests past the old Stock Exchange, Dam Square with the Royal Palace, the Old Church and the Red Light District.

From tasting rich tripels and fruity white beers or dark brown bocks and thirst-quenching pilsners, there are plenty of brews to choose from and the tour takes in some of the best bars in the city.

Saga Sapphire moors overnight in Amsterdam, offering plenty of time to also discover the beautiful canals, museums and galleries or try local specialities such as warming poffertjes – fluffy pancakes served with sugar and butter.

The mini-cruise also includes a call to Belgium and the beautiful city of Bruges, where beer lovers can wander along the cobbled streets to find bars selling a host of tasty Belgian beers, while chocoholics can seek out the finest chocolate shops and perhaps treat themselves to a warming hot chocolate.

Elegant Saga Sapphire is a fun and friendly 720-guest ship offering first-class service and fine dining.

There are two bars, Aviators and Cooper’s, which serve a wide choice of quality wines, spirits and draft beers.
