2016 BC Budget Summary

The 2016 BC Provincial budget was released February 15.   BC Economic Development Association (BCEDA), as a service to our members asked long time member and economist Jamie Vann Struth to attend the budget lockup to analyse the budget and the impacts on economic development programs.  This BCEDA release summarizes the key outcomes and new initiatives from the perspective of the provincial economic development community.

2016 BC Budget Summary

The 2016 BC provincial budget was released today. This BCEDA release summarizes the key outcomes and new initiatives from the perspective of the provincial economic development community.

Finance Minister de Jong placed a lot of emphasis in his budget presentation on the achievement of a fourth consecutive balanced budget. The province’s strong fiscal performance is contrasted with other jurisdictions in Canada, where only Quebec is intending to have a balanced budget in the next fiscal year.
