Holiday Inn and Suites Osoyoos is joining InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) colleagues from all over the world to take part in IHG Race Around the World through Sept. 28.
The event aims to raise awareness and funds for the global hotel company’s disaster relief program, IHG Shelter in a Storm.
During the IHG Race Around the World, colleagues across the globe pledge their support to IHG Shelter in a Storm by organizing fun activities.
This year, IHG has encouraged people to participate in as many activities as possible during the week-long event, and 30 colleagues from the Holiday Inn in Osoyoos are responding by bringing items from their homes such as clothes, kitchen items, towels and linens to donate to communities that have been effected by the wildfires this summer, in hopes that people can rebuild their lives.
Non-perishable food items will also be collected for the Osoyoos and Oliver food banks in preparation for this upcoming thanksgiving holiday season.
With IHG making a donation for each act of participation, the Holiday Inn’s activities will raise money for IHG Shelter in a Storm in the process.
Megan Edwards, Guest Services Loyalty Champion at the Holiday Inn and Suites Osoyoos said: “We are really excited to be joining IHG colleagues from across the world to raisevawareness and funds for IHG Shelter in a Storm. And the fact that we can help the people in our community and the communities around us is so fulfilling. Everyone was devastated by the fires, some people more so, and it’s wonderful to help them and other people in need.”
“Our pledge to gather donations for the communities and the food banks is not only great fun; it also motivated and engaged our people, and raised money for a fantastic cause.”
