Global travel volume increased 7.9 percent between 2015 and 2017, the U.S. Travel Association recently reported.
It’s a figure that should hardly be surprising given how easy and affordable globetrotting has become in recent years. The question is no longer whether one should travel, but rather, what are the top destinations to visit?
The annual Travvy Awards conveniently provides an answer to that question. Each year the awards recognize the best destinations around the globe, including such categories as Best City Destination, Best Honeymoon Destination, Best Luxury Destination and far, far more. The awards offer a go-to list for travelers seeking practically any kind of travel experience.

At this year’s ceremony, New York City took home the gold award for Best City Destination in the United States and Canada. It also won top honors for Best Culinary Destination in the United States and Canada. Las Vegas, a city that’s constantly evolving and launching new offerings and is home to some of the top chef designed restaurants in the world, won the silver award in both of these categories.
The Islands of Tahiti practically stole the show in the Destinations category, taking home several awards including Best Cruise Destination Overall; Best Cruise Destination for Australia/New Zealand and the South Pacific; and Best Honeymoon Destination for the same region. The Islands of Tahiti also won an award for the Best Luxury Destination in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
Not to be outdone, Fiji brought home silver awards in many of the same categories, including Best Luxury Destination in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific and Best Cruise Destination in the same region.
The Destinations category also recognizes tourism boards from around the world. Among the winners at Wednesday night’s ceremony were Jamaica’s tourism board, Tahiti Tourisme, and the tourism boards for Las Vegas and New Orleans.
