Intrepid Launches New Women’s-Only Expeditions

[ad_1]

On International Women’s Day, Intrepid Travel is launching new women-only expeditions in the Middle East.

In places such as the Middle East, where mixed-gender experiences may be limited, new limited-edition itineraries will give women an opportunity for unique, immersive local experiences.

The new journeys in Morocco, Jordan, and Iran encourage female empowerment and showcase the daily routines of local women.

“With all the hallmarks of a classic Intrepid Travel adventure–local leadership, local transport, real-life experiences and an added focus on female travel and female empowerment, this new line of Women’s Expeditions offers a unique opportunity for female travelers from around the world to connect with each other and learn more about Middle Eastern women and their day-to-day lives,” said Jenny Gray, regional product manager for the Middle East and Africa.

“While Intrepid Travel believes in inclusiveness at all levels of our company, these female-led, women-only expeditions offer a socially responsible and culturally sensitive way for travelers to access female-only establishments, experiences and customs in these traditionally conservative countries,” Gray added.

The Women’s Expeditions include the following trips:

Morocco–Women’s Expedition

Travel to Morocco and visit the city of Marrakech before sharing a meal with Berber families in their private homes. On this expedition, see how an artist co-op is empowering female rug-weavers in small villages, witnessing the verdant beauty of the far-flung Mgoun Valley and experiencing a traditional hammam with local women.

Jordan–Women’s Expedition

On an eight-day adventure, travelers spend one night in Wadi Rum learning the ancient art of henna with traditional Bedouin ladies and discover how kohl has been used for years—not just as a beauty product–but to protect eyes from the harsh desert sands.

Guests also enjoy an afternoon at a local ladies-only beach at the Dead Sea, learn the art of Arabic cooking in a local home, enjoy afternoon tea with local women and spend time with a female shepherd.

Iran–Women’s Expedition

Travelers step inside the secret world of an Iranian beauty salon, as well as wander through a female-only park, take a yoga class with local women, travel by public transport in the female-only carriage of the metro, local buses and an overnight train, immerse themselves in rural nomadic life with a female host in a remote homestay with the Qashqai people and meet young female entrepreneurs.

Travelers also take part in everyday activities such as and shopping and cooking and can learn secret recipes.
