The Caribbean’s largest tourism marketing event has opened in Jamaica.
The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association officially opened the show earlier at the Montego Bay Convention Centre.
The event will be held in collaboration with the Jamaica ministry of tourism, the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association and the Jamaica Tourist Board.
Produced by CHTA, Caribbean Travel Marketplace brings together hotel and destination representatives; wholesalers and tour operators; online travel agencies; MICE planners; and members of the media for several days of business meetings, including a busy program of thousands of pre-scheduled appointments.
Director general of CHTA, Frank Comito, said: “Jamaica is synonymous with exceptional hospitality, world renowned culture and incredible beauty.
“We look forward to continuing to offer our participants a high-quality program to engage with industry peers and promote travel to our region.”
The event will welcome hundreds of industry leaders to Jamaica.
“We are excited about these three days of active trading with the larger number of buyers meeting with our suppliers here in the Caribbean and hopefully to drive the Caribbean tourism activities to another level,” added Jamaica minister of tourism Edmund Bartlett.
“The projections for growth in the Caribbean is 2.5 per cent with Jamaica and the Dominican Republic leading in terms of expected volume of growth and the Caribbean Travel Marketplace is the centre which enable this growth to happen.”
Hundreds of regional and local tourism stakeholders are expected to converge at the Montego Bay Convention Centre to engage with industry peers and promote travel to the region.
This will include delegates from at least 24 Caribbean destinations.
