CHICAGO — Nowadays, pillow menus and personal butlers have become the norm at luxury hotels. But every so often, a hotel will announce a new amenity so over the top or so completely original that the industry sits up and takes notice.
Travel experts GO Group has compiled a list of the most unique and quirky hotel and resort amenities. These include Pineapple Hospitality’s The Naked Experience’, which allows guests the freedom to sleep like at home – in the nude. Each bed comes with two individually folded duvets inspired by traditional European hotel bedding. Extra perks include fluffy robes and slippers, and if the traditional bedding is preferred, a top sheet and blankets. Pineapple Hospitality has hotels in Seattle, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland and Chicago.
Over at The Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas hotel, guests will have access to the newly installed Moet Champagne vending machine with the purchase of a US$20 voucher at check in.
If beer is preferable, Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa has a new offering as well: ‘Straight from the tap’ IRD Growler Fills. Guests can choose from eight local craft beers and have it poured directly in their rooms. The growlers are 32 oz. and insulated, removing the need for refrigeration.
Not to be outdone is the Hotel Crescent Court in Uptown Dallas, which launched ‘Dressing-Room to Guest-Room’ in partnership with luxury retailer Stanley Korshak. Couture clothing, shoes and accessories are offered in the guestroom to try on and purchase. An on-call tailor is available to make adjustments and any unwanted items can be sent back.
Meanwhile, in Washington D.C., the Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel has also partnered with luxury brand, Shinol, to offer a ‘Watch Butler’ service for guests. A selection of handmade Shinola watches are available to borrow during a guest’s stay. At the Kimpton Gray Chicago, guests can purchase a tie and/or pocket square from the front desk or their guestroom minibar.
