Okanagan Organization Wins Tourism Award

The 2015 Tourism Industry Awards were handed out in Vancouver and an Okanagan organization was honoured during the gala event.

At the Vancouver Convention Centre the province’s tourism industry gathered as the winners were singled out. Destination Osoyoos received the BC Destination Marketing Organization Association Professional Excellence Award. One of just five recipients, the Okanagan organization was honoured for its commitment and success within the tourism industry.

“It is an incredible achievement to be selected as the best, from the high calibre of nominations we received this year,” said Marsha Walden, CEO. “These award winners have truly set a standard of excellence in their commitment to British Columbia’s tourism industry. It is important to celebrate the amazing talent we have in this province, to honour those that go above and beyond to create truly remarkable experiences for our guests. The awards were handed out during the BC Tourism Industry Conference and also included:

Employees First Award

Northern BC Tourism Plaza – Northern BC Tourism Association
Innovation Award

Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park & Outdoor Centre
Remarkable Experience Award

Tourism employed 132,300 people in B.C. in 2013 and generates approximately $13.9 billion in revenue for the provincial economy.
