The Okanagan is getting even more international attention with three wineries making their debut on a Lifestyle TV series set this air in New Zealand.
The six part series called Ventures in Wine Country follows three wineries from the Okanagan through their 2014 vintage, chronicling a grape-to-glass story of winemaking.
Covert Farms Family Estate in Oliver, Painted Rock Estate in Penticton, and The Hatch in West Kelowna are the featured wineries.
“It’s very gratifying to get this kind of exposure,” said series creator and producer, Kenton Gilchrist of Asymetriq Productions Inc. “We think we have a great product, but it’s always validating to have others think so too.”
To help fund the project, a Kickstarter campaign took place in 2014 where over $40,000 was raised to bring the project to life.
A launch party to celebrate the Canadian release of Ventures will be held during Winter in Wine Country, taking place at the Watermark Beach Resort in Osoyoos on December 4th. The event is open to the public. The series will also be aired on the Asymetriq website here.
One of the next projects Gilchrist and his business Jon Hunwick are working on is a documentary on the construction of the Area 27 Raceway in Oliver.
