From new flights to the opening of a world-class tennis facility, the Mexican Caribbean continues to boost its tourism offerings.

New Southwest Flights

Cancun welcomed new flights from Pittsburgh and Raleigh, North Carolina, this month. Southwest is putting the Mexican Caribbean within reach to travelers in these cities, just in time for spring break.

World-Class Tennis Facility Opens

The first Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre has opened in Costa Mujeres.

The center has been dubbed a “new tennis paradise,” and is located at the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa, offering a top-notch training facility with programs for all ages.

Alltournative Mayatlan

Alltournative Mayatlan event will take place in the northern Mayan communities for the seventh time.

The cross-triathlon event takes place on March 17, 2019, and will raise funds for educational projects in the local communities.

Challenge Cancun

On April 28, 2019, the Challenge Family will test triathletes in Cancun for the first time. One thousand competitors will head to the region to compete in categories, including a 113k Individual and 113k Relays and Sprint.

The 1,000-meter swim will take place at Playa Langosta, located at kilometer 5 of the Hotel Zone. The next portion will take cyclists around the region, including through the hotel zone and Boulevard Kukulcan.

The running portion begins on Club Casablanca on Avenue Bonampak and the finish line is in downtown Cancun. The event is endorsed by the Mexican Triathlon Federation.

Riviera Maya to Host Platino Awards

The Riviera Maya will host the Platino Awards, which will take place in the Riviera Maya for the second year in a row.

The awards, which take place on May 12, are the most important in Ibero-American cinema.
