The Dominican Republic has joined the Central America Tourism Agency as a fully participating member, further diversifying the region’s multi-destination offering for UK travellers.
The addition of the Dominican Republic to the member organisation enhances the region’s rich cultural, historical and natural diversity.
The synergies between the seven Central American nations and the Dominican Republic make this new partnership a natural fit, sharing cultural traditions, picturesque natural landscapes, local hospitality, pristine beaches and archaeological legacy left by ancient civilisations.
The Dominican Republic’s inclusion in CATA aims to further enhance the country’s diverse tourism offering and encourage visitors to extend a Central America trip to the Dominican Republic and vice versa.
The island nation has reported a successful first half of 2018 with a 5.9 per cent year-on-year increase in total visitors between January ̶ July (according to figures from Banco Central de la República Dominicana).
According to the Dominican Republic Tourist Board, UK visitor arrivals between January and July have also risen by 7.8 per cent from 2017 to 2018.
