Flybe expands summer schedule from Heathrow

Putting its financial woes to one side, Flybe has today added another daily return flight to its Edinburgh-London Heathrow service as part of its summer schedule.

The move increases the choice of flights to six a day – resulting in a total of 41 available throughout the week.

The enhanced schedule offers an extra early morning departure from Heathrow; and an increased choice of evening flights from Edinburgh for the added convenience and particular benefit to business travellers.

The new early morning flight departs London Heathrow at 06:40, arriving Edinburgh at 08:25; with the evening flight returning to Heathrow from Edinburgh at 17:35 and arriving at 19:15.

Roy Kinnear, Flybe chief commercial officer commented: “Scotland is a significant market for Flybe and our Edinburgh to London Heathrow route has grown from strength to strength since its 2017 launch.

“We are therefore pleased to add yet another daily flight from the start of our 2019 Summer schedule for our customers’ convenience which will offer an even better spread of frequency across the day.

“It also accommodates convenient day return travel for our business and corporate customers.”

Guernsey

At the same time, the regional carrier said it will be operating a direct daily flight between Guernsey and Heathrow from the end of March.

For the first time in 20 years, this will provide the island a connection to London’s largest airport and to the numerous onward links available via the UK’s busiest international hub.

Operated by 78-seat Bombardier Q400 aircraft, seats are now on sale.

Despite being one of world’s foremost international finance centres and, with its mild climate and rich history also a popular tourist destination, Guernsey has had no fast, convenient connection to Heathrow since the late 1990s.

Kinnear added: “We are naturally delighted to provide Guernsey with connectivity to the capital and onwards to the long-haul destinations available via Heathrow.”
