Imagine sitting on your couch at home and being able to experience what it’s like to be on board the Rocky Mountaineer, travelling through lush forests and crystal blue waters.
Well, you don’t have to imagine anymore.
The award-winning train has partnered with Travel Alberta to release the world’s first ever virtual reality (VR) rail video.
Filmed atop the luxury tourist train, viewers will be able to see 360 degree footage of the Pacific Northwest’s beautiful scenic route, and what it’s like to be inside the iconic train’s dome coaches.
The video was first launched in March at a National Geographic event in Washington, D.C.
For the best VR experience, the Rocky Mountaineer VR video should be viewed in a Google cardboard with headsets plugged in. This video is only compatible with android devices at the moment.
Take a look at the first of its kind VR video.
