Human intestines found in woman’s suitcase

GRAZ, AUSTRIA — Call it a gutsy move or a gory one, either way this makes for one hell of a Halloween tale.

According to the Austrian Press Agency, human organs were found tightly packed in plastic containers and formaldehyde in a Moroccan woman’s suitcase during baggage check at the Graz airport.

It was reported on Monday that the woman told police she had brought the intestines of her deceased husband to Austria in hopes of getting them tested for poison. Authorities in Morocco had previously cited the cause of his death as an intestinal obstruction.

The tissue is being subjected to a pathological analysis. No word as to whether the woman was allowed to keep her gruesome package.

Any time a country or region imposes any sort of visa stipulation – even if it’s a waiver – the travel industry sighs a collective groan, knowing the obstacles and headaches to come.
