San Franciscans, get your passports ready

San Francisco becomes the latest non-stop flight through Edmonton International Airport, with the announcement today of new service by Air Canada. The airline will operate daily flights between YEG and SFO beginning May 1, 2018.

This is welcomed news for the Alberta tourism industry and is an opportunity to grow leisure and business travel in the province, especially the northern region. The United States remains Alberta’s largest international market and contributes more than $805 million in traveller expenditures and 829,000 person visits to the province each year, with California contributing more than $121 million in traveller expenditures and 125,000 person visits.

Direct air access into Edmonton, coupled with the current exchange rate makes travelling to Alberta easier and is a great opportunity to capitalize on the purchasing power of Americans.
We look forward to welcoming more San Franciscans, so they can explore all the icons and hidden gems across the province.
