Stray dog gets adopted by flight attendant after refusing to leave her hotel

BUENOS AIRES — They say love finds you when you least expect it, and for one flight attendant this couldn’t be more true.

According to The Telegraph, Olivia Sievers often travels from Germany to Argentina for work. It was in Buenos Aires earlier this year where she first encountered a street dog who she fed some scraps to just outside her hotel. After that brief encounter, the dog refused to leave Sievers side; he even slept outside the hotel, waiting for her to reemerge.

“I tried to change my way because I didn’t want that he follow me back to the hotel,” she told Noticiero Trece. “But it was not possible. He always came back and followed me. I tried one hour, but he always watched me and followed me. He was really happy that somebody gave him attention.”

Sievers named her new canine friend Rubio. Shortly after, she returned home to Germany, thinking that was the last she’d see of him. But little did she know that Rubio would be waiting patiently for her outside the same hotel when she returned to Buenos Aires on another trip.

Every time she came back to Argentina after that, she’d find Rubio waiting outside the hotel. Taking pity on him, Sievers went so far as to make arrangements with a rescue group in hopes that he’d be paired with a loving family.

Rubio ended up running away from his newfound home, back to the hotel in search of Sievers.

The story ends on a happy note, with Sievers flying back to Germany this past Friday with Rubio to live with her. They’re currently enjoying the German summer together.
