Leipzig Tourism Board recruits new UK public relations company

The Leipzig Tourism Board has appointed specialist travel PR agency, Lemongrass Marketing, to manage their UK and Irish public relations.

Lemongrass Marketing will be responsible for all strategic leisure and MICE communications in the region, with immediate effect.

The fastest growing city in Germany, Leipzig is set for an exciting year of key anniversaries in 2019, including 30 years since Leipzig’s revolution in 1989, the 200th birthday of the city’s famous composer, Clara Schumann, and the 100th anniversary of art and design movement Bauhaus.

Events and exhibitions to mark these anniversaries will be taking place across the city throughout 2019.

Speaking of the agency’s appointment, founder of Lemongrass Marketing, Mirjam Peternek-McCartney, said: “We are delighted to kick off our partnership with the Leipzig Tourism Board.

“Germany is a region we specialise in, and Leipzig is a city close to my heart, so this is the perfect partnership.”

As one of the most popular congress venues in Europe and Germany’s creative hub, MICE will be a key focus for the city this year.

The Congress Centre Leipzig alone welcomes over 100 congresses each year, with attendees able to choose from more than 130 hotels in the city.

Volker Bremer, managing director of Leipzig Tourism Board, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Lemongrass Marketing on this project.

“They demonstrated a clear understanding of our vision for the city throughout the pitch process, and have shown a creative and progressive approach to communications.

“We’re looking forward to working together in 2019.”
