Nicaraguan Tourist Board to focus on UK travellers

The Nicaraguan Tourist Board has announced a new annual plan, which will oversee the continued and increasing promotion of the country in the UK.

The move is part of an ongoing global strategy for development, growth and sustainability in Nicaragua’s tourism industry.

Ana Carolina García, director of promotion and marketing at the National Institute of Tourism Promotion, said: “The particular emphasis given to the UK reflects our deep understanding of the vital importance of the British market as a driver of a quality tourism sector, and our desire and intention to continue developing strong relationships with the trade and media in order to reach consumers there.”

Nicaragua’s plan in the UK for the coming 12 months will include a visit by minister of tourism Anasha Campbell to London later this year, press trips, fam trips, seminars, collaboration agreements with tour operators and airlines, training for the UK trade and media, boutique events with high-end Nicaraguan products such as rum, cigars, chocolate, coffee, clothing and others, and more.

The Tourist Board will also work closely with LATA, of which it is a member, to support the UK trade and media.

Nicaragua, located in Central America and bordered to the south by Costa Rica and to the north by Honduras, is the safest country in Latin America according to UN statistics, and is considered “the” emerging destination in the region.
